Wearable Computing and Accelerometry for the Uninitiated

Cartoon picture of BrianWearable Computing and Accelerometry for the Uninitiated

The SMART group has an active working subgroup in wearable computing and accelerometry. Here's a cartoon version of Brian explaining some of the relevant work done by the group :

Wearable computing has the potential to be a revolution in public health by providing much more accurate measurement of behavior among other things. In addition to the technological problem, wearable computing generates complex data that needs careful thought to be analyzed. The SMART group working in wearable computing is at the leading edge of the statistical analysis of this kind of data. A great example of this work is in the Movelet paper by Jiawei Bai.

This cartoon was made in goanimate. Brian is experimenting with goanimate for educational purposes. We plan to do more, simple explanations of our methods and researchs (perhaps using cartoons). So, look to the announcements.
